ESCH is committed to ensuring candle care is covered. It is so very important not only to get the best out of your candle but for your safety which above all else, is our priority. Our individual candles contain a ‘Candle Care’ card as well as a sticker at the bottom of our vessels. Please take the time to read and understand it prior to lighting your candle.
Please follow the following instructions to enjoy your candle safely. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Candle Care Instructions – To prevent tunnelling and create a candle memory, the first time you light your candle let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the glass. Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
Wick Safety – Trim the wick before every use. It is normal in soy wax for your wicks to mushroom. This is easily fixed by trimming your wick to 6mm. Trimming will ensure your candle does not burn hotter than it should and thus will prolong the life of your candle. Trim the little ball on the end of your wick to keep your candle burning gently, be sure not to cut it too short or it will be engulfed by wax.
Avoid Draughts – Candles burn best in still air but if you can’t avoid draughts, turn the candle periodically to avoid uneven burning and possible candle collapse. A candle in a draught may also start to smoke.
Candle Storage – Candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Fragrances with a vanilla content may yellow if exposed to sunlight or fluorescent light. This is normal and does not affect the burning of the candle. Store your candles in an upright position.
Extinguishing Candles – It’s always best to use a candle dipper or a candle snuffer rather than blowing out to prevent wicks from drifting off-centre and to avoid wax splash. This will help maximise the candle’s burn time. Extinguish them if you leave the room and always before going to bed.
Burn Pool – ESCH candles have gone through testing of burn pools to ensure safety and performance standards. Any black soot at the rim of your glass may be a sign that your wick is too long. Once a candle is extinguished, simply wipe the soot away with a damp cloth and trim the wick.
